Falconer, PE<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Managing Principal<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Brian Falconer started with Severud Associates in 1990 and became a principal of the firm 17 years later.  His architectural engineering education and extensive professional experience have enabled him to master an array of structural systems and materials and develop a deep understanding of his clients\u2019 visions.  Brian\u2019s large portfolio of cutting-edge projects includes New York University\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.severud.com\/principal-thoughts\/john-a-paulsen-center-nyu-and-moynihan-train-hall-get-the-spotlight\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">John A. Paulson Center<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.severud.com\/commercial\/moynihan-train-hall\/?catname=commercial\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Moynihan Train Hall\u2013J.A. Farley Post Office<\/a> and 390 Madison Avenue redevelopments, all in New York City.  His other notable projects include the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.severud.com\/principal-thoughts\/university-of-pennsylvania-krishna-p-singh-center-for-nanotechnology-2\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Krishna P. Singh Center for Nanotechnology<\/a> at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.severud.com\/academic\/university-of-chicago-reva-and-david-logan-center-for-the-arts\/?catname=academic\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts at the University of Chicago, Illinois<\/a>, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.severud.com\/academic\/university-of-michigan-medical-school-biomedical-science-research-building\/?catname=academic\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">University of Michigan Medical School\u2019s Biomedical Science Research Building<\/a> in Ann Arbor.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Brian is active in the profession as chair of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seaony.org\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Structural Engineers Association of New York (SEAoNY)<\/a> SE Licensure committee.  He is also a past president and honorary member of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seaony.org\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">SEAoNY<\/a>, past chair of the New York City-International Building Code (NYC-IBC) Review Committee Masonry Panel, past member of the NYC-IBC Structural Committee and Seismic Panel, and past member of the Structural Engineering Institute Seismic Effects and Structural Fire Protection Standards committees.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Brian is co-author of \u201cStation to Station,\u201d which appeared in Modern Steel Construction in August 2021 and \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.severud.com\/commercial\/moynihan-train-hall\/?catname=commercial\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Moynihan Train Hall<\/a>,\u201d which appeared in Structure in August 2022, both about the Moynihan Train Hall redevelopment project.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Brian is licensed as a structural engineer in Illinois and Nevada and as a professional engineer in New York and three other states.  He was certified by the Structural Engineering Certification Board until the program\u2019s sunset in 2022.  He earned a Bachelor of Science in architectural engineering from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ku.edu\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">University of Kansas<\/a> in Lawrence and a Master of Science in civil engineering from the <a href=\"https:\/\/admissions.utexas.edu\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">University of Texas<\/a>, Austin, where he is a distinguished alumnus.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Brian A.
