Senior Principal<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Fortunato Orlando arrived at Severud Associates in 1996 after working as an engineer in his native Italy for two years. With more than 30 years of experience, he has become well versed in most structural systems and materials. Fortunato has engineered many important and large-scale projects, including the new corporate headquarters at 270 Park Avenue<\/a>, the Bank of America Tower at One Bryant Park<\/a>, and both the original and recent redevelopment of 3 Times Square<\/a>, all in New York City. His other significant projects include the Greenwich Lane condominiums<\/a> and townhouses in Manhattan, the AirTrain JFK\u2013Jamaica Station<\/a> addition and renovation in Queens, as well as many international projects.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Fortunato contributes to the structural engineering profession as an on-call volunteer with the Structural Engineer Emergency Response Plan (SEERP)<\/a> of the Structural Engineers Association of New York<\/a> (SEAoNY). He is also a past director and past secretary of SEAoNY.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Fortunato is co-author of the articles \u201c270 Park Avenue: Modern Structure for a Modern Workplace<\/a>,\u201d which appeared in Structure in June 2024, and \u201cBuilding Big,\u201d which appeared in Modern Steel Construction<\/em> in January 2024, about 270 Park Avenue<\/a>, as well as \u201cNew Brunswick Gateway Transit Village<\/a>,\u201d which appeared in Structure<\/em> in March 2012, and \u201cIt Takes a Village<\/a>,\u201d which appeared in Modern Steel Construction<\/em> in July 2012, about the mixed-use project near Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey.<\/a><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Fortunato is licensed as a professional engineer in New York and three other states and is also a registered engineer (inactive) in Italy. He was certified by the Structural Engineering Certification Board<\/a> until the program\u2019s sunset in 2022.
